LEE IN CERULEAN
"Art provides a comforting refuge from the gravity and solemnity of reality, presenting a healing avenue for self-expression and imaginative exploration..." - Lee In Cerulean

Jerilee, a Philadelphia-based artist working under the name Lee in Cerulean, creates minimalist works rooted in texture, asymmetry, and the beauty of imperfection. Using joint compound, acrylic paint, and unconventional tools, she builds layered surfaces marked by organic lines, freeform strokes, and uneven, tactile finishes.
Influenced by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, Jerilee embraces the imperfect, unfinished, and naturally evolving qualities of her materials. Her work reflects the quiet continuity of everyday life, inviting viewers to slow down and notice subtle details within simple forms. Through ridges, built-up textures, and overlapping compositions, her pieces hold stillness and movement at once.
Jerilee earned her BFA from the Art Institute of Seattle, where she began exploring how texture and form can express emotion without relying on complex imagery. This interest shaped her current practice and led to the development of her artistic identity, Lee in Cerulean.
Her work has been shown in galleries, showcases, artist pop-ups, and charitable events throughout Philadelphia. As her practice continues to evolve, Jerilee’s calm, tactile pieces continue to gain attention for their honest focus on what is real, imperfect, and quietly beautiful.
